3. Making Some Hollow Wood Akas (Crossmembers) Just For Fun..


...and because I didn't feel like spending a bunch of money buying

- and anodizing - yet more pricey 6061-T6 aluminum tubing.




My apologies for not starting the picture-taking process earlier.

Basically, these akas are made out of 1" x 2" stringers separated by 3" of open space except at the ends and where the attachment bolts go through.

Then they are laminated on both sides with 6 mm cheapo birch ply from your local box store.

Everything is glued together with PL Premium construction adhesive, and there is certainly no need to bother with the cost or hassle of epoxy.

They work great and cost next to nothing. And they don't need anodizing!
